Bahira and her family had to flee from their home in Syria when militants captured their city. They found refuge in another part of Syria, but now live in an unfinished building with only a roof over their heads—no walls, no electricity and no water—an "apartment" they must pay $67 a month for. But it's better than the alternative...and it's winter in Syria now, too.
Um Vorn wears many hats in Brasat Muoy Village—husband, father, pastor, farmer and teacher. He is one of 12 men and women scattered all over rural Cambodia who have been tasked with a very special assignment: educate children, and do all you can to prevent them from becoming victims of human trafficking and slavery, an endemic problem throughout Southeast Asia.
Just over a year ago, Qaraqosh was home to almost 60,000 people and Iraq's largest Christian population. But when ISIS stormed through the city's defensive line, a mass exodus began. Fearful, many fled during the night with only the clothes on their backs. Their entire lives were left behind in Qaraqosh, and into the hands of ISIS.

A broken arm...for 3 years? I thought incredulously. I'd known Katun for almost 5 years—and even used pictures of her to describe life in the leprosy colonies of Hyderabad, India (there she is smiling in the Leprosy Ministry banner at top)—but never noticed her arm was broken! (She had a way of hiding it from visitors.)
