Little Liza has defied all odds and is still alive today. But she needs help if she's going to thrive.

Liza was conceived when her young 14-year-old mother had been repeatedly raped by her uncle.

After giving birth, Liza's mother and grandmother chose to abandon her tiny, frail body on top of the uncle's chicken coop.

When the uncle discovered the tiny baby, he called the authorities, not realizing that he was the father and the cause of this painful chaos. The resulting investigation led to Liza's removal and placement with a dedicated Heaven's Family partner.

Sweet little Liza was only 12 days old when she arrived at our partner's doorstep. She has been diagnosed with Down syndrome, along with typical accompanying issues. She is low-tone but shows very little in the way of cognitive delays.

When she arrived, Liza needed to see numerous specialists, including a cardiologist and geneticist. This, along with the accompanying medical testing, has been expensive. There are two other young children in our partner's care who've had similar health problems, needing to be seen by cardiologists and needing echocardiograms and electrocardiograms.

Liza and the two other children still have heart problems and need to continue to be seen by cardiologists as well as receive more tests, if their hearts are going to thrive.

It'll cost about $510 to cover all the necessary appointments and heart tests for Liza. All the appointments, tests and treatments will cost about $1,530 for all three children.
