Jin’s Jail Break

Jin Sang awoke, wondering where she was and how long she'd been unconscious. Her head throbbed with pain, and she could hardly open her left eye. She could feel cold metal cutting into her wrists, restraining her to a chair. As Jin fully regained an awareness of her surroundings, she also realized that a uniformed man stood over her—the source, she now had no doubt, of her pain and her blackout.

Overcoming in Orissa

Turn around! Go back! Those emphatic words left us stunned. Early last year, for example, through a child-sponsorship program, we opened a school for the ostracized, but healthy, children of those afflicted with leprosy. We've also opened a medical clinic just to serve the hundreds of people in Hyderabad who have the cruel disease.

Kutty Pays the Price

"If you try to escape, you'll be killed!" With those words, Kutty's older brother bolted the bedroom door shut, and Kutty slumped to the floor in pain. His brother's brutal blows ceased only after he finally agreed to read the Qur'an. That first assault only foreshadowed what lay in Kutty's future.

The Happy Smuggler

Awakened by panicked shouts outside his prison cell, Maung peered through the bars of his cell window to see torches of fire reaching high into the nighttime sky. The entire prison compound was ablaze. Thinking of his family members far away, Maung began to pray for deliverance. "Lord, I'm here for obeying you and bringing Bibles into China! Save me!"

Enterprising Agnes

Everywhere I traveled in Kenya, I witnessed small economic miracles that have changed the lives of widows who were once desperately poor. All have been helped though Heaven's Family micro-loans, which have enabled them to lift themselves to self-sufficiency through their own enterprising small businesses.
