You may recall that Carole and I went to Israel last September. I love what my partner, Dov Bikas, is doing among the addicts and homeless, and the Prison & Rehab Ministry is supporting his work there as God provides. I thought you’d appreciate another testimony from the land of our spiritual forefathers.
Much of the world doesn't have insurance, either because it doesn't exist in that country or because it's much too expensive for folks who just hope to have enough food for their family that day. They depend on the Lord and compassion of others when disaster strikes, even relatively small ones.

He stood there, frozen and strangely insistent. But he was, after all, just a statue—a massive, imposing figure of Buddha, clad in gold—pointing a long golden finger out over a city far below. "I know that statue, and the city I’m being told to go to," thought Khamh Lian Thang the next day as he relived his vivid dream from the night before. He knew he needed to obey this calling on his life, despite the many people, including his family and friends, whom he knew would be begging him not to go.
I wonder what Abraham, David or Elijah would think about the Promised Land today. The truth is, modern Israel is not the romanticized place we learned about in Sunday School. On the contrary, I've learned it's a messy melting pot of people who often carry a lot of pain—many of whom have found various self-destructive, addictive ways to numb it.
"I knelt, and placed my hands on the door to pray. For two-and-a-half hours I prayed for Jesus to deliver us. We then prepared to die."
