Boniface Mutuku is 7 years old, and he and his mother live in a slum in Kenta, Kenya. Hard working and with an iron will, Boniface's mother makes a meager living by scavenging construction sites for discarded wood, which she then sells to hotels as firewood for cooking.
Laos is a socialist state where the government regulates many aspects of society and the lives of its citizens. While a hardened outlook seems to be a normal part of life in Laos (evidenced by the faces of many of the local residents) there is still an intense hope and faith in the lives of those who follow Jesus.
I have such a wonderful praise report to share with you from the Leprosy Ministry’s team in Goma, D.R. Congo, who are faithfully ministering to the leprosy patients living in the Mugunga 3 IDP Camp. This dedicated team of individuals pour out their lives sacrificially for the "least of these."
Biases and prejudices are often formed due to lack of knowledge, education, and exposure. We often base our expectations on appearances and environmental factors placing limitations and restrictions on individuals that often are unwarranted and ill conceived. I am no stranger to this behavior and recently had an opportunity to take a step back and have a closer look.
It wasn't easy for Mr. Cheng to exercise faith in this strange person named Jesus he'd been learning about—the whole concept felt so foreign to him. But there was something to it; a transforming power he couldn't deny. Was it something that could fill the aching pit in his soul?
