Life in Myanmar was difficult for Ei Zin. Her parents divorced when she was 16, and her mother's severe heart condition resulted in insurmountable debt from medical bills. Ei Zin found herself financially responsible for her mother and herself, so she began working in a factory where she could earn just enough money for food and rent.
The rural village of Kajawo, Malawi had no access to clean water. People in the village were often sick and sometimes died from cholera and other water-related diseases.

Last September, Salvacion’s body suddenly became weak and she was unable to walk for two months. Because of her poverty, she could not visit a doctor. Add to that her lack of nutritious food, decent shelter, clean water, and adequate sanitation, and her condition only worsened. But she desperately cried to God for healing. Despite her illness, our local partner visited Salvacion every week without fail, and she continued to participate in a small-group discovery Bible study. A food package from Heaven’s Family kept her frail body nourished physically.
Giann lives in the Philippines, and her childhood has been riddled with trauma. Her father was imprisoned for murder when she was only four years old. She was able to attend school until her mother died, but then her life changed forever. Her stepfather’s new girlfriend came to live with them, and Giann was forced to do the household chores and was ruthlessly beaten over the smallest things. She had no food on the rare days when she was able to get to school at all. A kind teacher noticed her hunger and helped with her lunch.
Aunt Tao was 18 years old when she got the news that drastically and abruptly changed her entire life. Her year-long marriage ended abruptly in divorce when her husband heard about her leprosy diagnosis. Then, she was banished for life to a leprosy quarantine village high in the remote mountains. This all happened in 1964.
