Eight years ago, Pauline's parents were killed during Kenya's election violence, from which she still carries physical and emotional scars. There is some good news, however, because Pauline gave her heart to Jesus last year, and although she lives in Nairobi's indescribable Mathare slum, she attends a Christian school there. Each school day, she and over 500 other children receive milk to supplement their meager diets, thanks to Heaven's Family's Food Fund. The promise of daily body-strengthening milk helps motivate Pauline and all the other children to not miss a day of school. And better nutrition means better learning.
The term "bumper crop" isn't often used in the same sentence as the word "Africa." But that's changing since the introduction of Farming God's Way (FGW). We're seeing ever-increasing harvests of crops and souls.
"The children would be better off if their parents were dead." Strangely, those words were the catalyst for what would become our Education Fund's most significant accomplishment in 2014.
Unlike other recent years, 2014 brought no headline-dominating natural disasters in which thousands of people perished. But that is no consolation to a woman in China who lost her child in last year's earthquake, or to a father in Pakistan whose wife disappeared when flood waters washed away their home, or to orphans in India as they huddled together in the dark while a cyclone ripped off the roof of their orphanage. Heaven's Family was there to help those disaster victims, and others.
