Kathmandu Quake

You have no doubt heard of the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake centered near Kathmandu, Nepal, earlier this weekend. The images are heartbreaking. The death toll has exceeded 2,500 as of this writing, and will no doubt increase substantially as many who are now missing are later found buried under rubble.

Telling it on the Mountain

The vast majority of Nepal's citizens either worship some of the 330,000,000 (yes, that's 330 million, plus or minus a few) gods and goddesses of Hinduism, follow the teachings of Buddha, or worship the animals, rocks, trees or spirits of their ancestors. That's a grim statistic that breaks the hearts of Timothy Rai and Anosh Ghale, two Heaven's Family national missionaries.

Straightening Bent Lives…and

Straightening lives that have been twisted by abuse and neglect has become a special calling of God on the life of Nicole Fitzpatrick, a Heaven's Family missionary in Mexico. She has learned that Jesus' love, poured out liberally and consistently over time, makes even the most broken and bent souls straight.

You’ve Got (Encouraging) Mail

Dealing every day with the ugly realities of human trafficking and slavery depresses us at times. We struggle with protecting our minds while at the same time maintaining soft hearts that weep with the multitudes who are bought, sold and abused. And we often find ourselves crying out to the Lord with such words as, Why do you allow this God? Our hearts felt especially heavy as we told you last time about the secret war that rages for the lives of a generation.

A Doomed Mission

The cold of the prison cell quickly penetrated Joseph's thin clothes, chilling him to the bone. His body ached from the beating he had just received. His internal organs felt deeply bruised and his knee was broken—probably beyond repair. He wondered if this was the end of his life.
